Excellent podcast Andrew , thanks so much for doing this!

Fantastic!! Please keep doing these podcasts!
1:42 PM
Thanks to both Andrews for the wonderful Spline Cast! It's always encouraging to know that these people we idolize and put on pedestals started out in the same situations we did. Looking forward to hearing parts 2 and 3.
Good luck with those technical difficulties, Dr. Gordon. :) Hopefully in future Spline Casts we'll be able to hear you better!
2:06 PM
Great splinecast! Great interviewee, great story, great questions,... only suggestion on the "technical issues": get rid of the music, or at least lower the volume. In the beginning, I could hardly hear what you were saying through it. Maybe you could put the volume a bit higher in the parts you are talking during the interview as well, although that's nothing particularly annoying.
Keep them coming, they're gold!
3:35 PM
I knew the volume was a bit high. Sorry about that. Look for another part of the interview in a few days. Andrew gives out pure Gold. It's a good time to be in animation. There are so many resources now. When I was in school it was all a mystery. Now, with all the blogs, podcast, websites, chat groups, you have so many options.

so great to hear this stuff Andrew. I appreciate you taking the time to do something like this. It's really inspiring, and I wanted to hear more!!! I cant wait.
Yes to the volume levels being off, but you already know that so. :D
That story of seeing the Cal Arts guide book in the counselor's office was so funny to hear, I did the same thing, although I was unable to go to Cal Arts.
thanks and looking forward to more!

Thank you sooo much! I loved the splinecast....pleeease post the rest of the interview and don't hesitate to interview other pixar greats!
1:25 AM
AWESOME! I can't wait to listen to the next one!
6:33 AM
As an animator just of out school, it was very inspiring to hear Mr. Stanton's struggles when he first came into the industry.
11:01 AM
Great stuff, Andrew. Hearing the details of someone's career path--at least if it's not of the 'top of my class, right to work, did great, got promoted' variety--is always fascinating. Can't wait to hear more of the details on Andrew S.'s thoughts on story and directing.
11:33 AM
this is just getting better and better. thank you so much! Really looking forward to the next one.
12:49 PM
Thanks Andrew (Gordon) for the splinecast, looking forward to hear the remaining two podcasts. It was interesting to know how Andrew Stanton's state of mind was in before he got the phone call from Lasseter to work at Pixar.
1:32 PM
Great show, keep it going! Hopefully this will inspire others to follow suit and start sharing their experiences with us who are just starting out. Its always inspiring to read what you guys have to say, couldn't thank you guys enough!
1:58 PM
that was awesome! thanks for doing it.
2:54 PM
Truly inspiring story. Looking back at how a group of very few people came together to create one of the largest and most successful animation studios over the course of 20 years makes me somewhat jealous. Not to complain about the current success of animation but this scenario seems rather unlikely in today's competitive market. Please don't misread this as a complaint against the "big players" - Pixar is big because they make amazing films and deserve the success. It's just as though lightning struck a second time in animation history to create a studio like Pixar and the chances of it happening again (for current newcomers to be a part of from the beginnung ;)) seem slim.
Anyway - great podcast, keep it up!

That was awesome! Thanks a lot and keep it coming.
BTW, do you have a podcast XML URL so that I can add your podcast to iTunes?
Ken
9:12 AM
I clicked on the link and all I got was text! Help!!
9:22 AM
I'm not sure how to add the podcast to itunes. If someone wants to help me do that, I'd be happy to do it. As for only getting text, if you right click in the link, you should be able to download the file. Safari has problems playing the file. I dont really know why this is happening....

10:17 AM
Fantastic! Thanks Andrew, can't wait for more.
11:01 AM
Thanks for doing this.
Good stuff.
I have a few questions for MR Stanton and or the next director you interview.
-Do you have a wide rage of interests outside of animation that you draw on for inspiration?
-How do you see the disney Pixar merger affecting you?
Thanks again
-Evan
12:25 PM
WOW! Like others have already said; I love hearing stories about the roads traveled by animators. Very inspiring and informative. Can't wait to hear more. So post it! Post it now!! Why haven't you posted it yet!!

8:22 PM
Awesome!
I really liked hearing his story. It is really inspiring, and well... that is the purpose of an animator after all, tell a story, and his got a great one.
Cant wait to hear next part!
Thanks Dr. Gordon and Andrew Stanton
8:59 PM
Awesome. very insightful.
looking forward to the others.
the only thing that really bothered me a bit was you acknowledging the fact that you were listening with "wow" "oh" and things like that.
that's fine to do that, but Id prefer if maybe they were edited out if possible. if not that's fine too.
11:12 PM
Yeah, I know about the "oh wow" and "really". What do you want, I'm not Dan Rather. Its really the first time I interviewed anybody so you get what you pay for... I tried editing them out but it was a nightmare. I'll be more professional in the future. Dang, you guys are rough... :)
11:39 PM
Fan-freakin-tastic. I'm a big fan of Andrew Stanton, and it's hard to get interviews and stories about my idols. So having this available is an utter joy. I can't wait for the later parts, and it would be incredible to hear from even more artists. Pixar's other directors of course -- but also some behind-the-scenes guys we really never get to hear from anywhere else.
11:59 PM
yeah, just giving some contructive critism. you pretty much asked for it by asking for comments. ;)
its really not that bad. just mentioning for future reference.
the only way youd be able to edit it out would be if you had two audio tracks, which Im asuiming you didnt have. if you could/would that would give you more flexibility in editing.
but you may not have that option with the equipment you have. I wouldnt know.
1:57 AM
Finally got to listen to the first part. Awesome. Absolutely awesome. It is really great to hear how well known and talented figures got their start. It makes all of us little people feel like we have a chance.
Thank you! And Keep this stuff coming!
11:13 AM
I would rather you kept it in the format that it's in without editing. It's rare to be able to hear material like this in a conversation format.
If it becomes too produced it can lose the spontaneity that contributed to the great responses in these first two interviews.
4:57 PM
Andrew, I, myself, enjoyed the ohh and ahhs and wow's. I felt like we were pals, listening to Andrew S's intriquing story together around the Pixar campfire. And, i'd much rather know the interviewer is enjoying what's he hearing as much as we, the listeners are. I'd say don't waste your time editing it out. It's the content that matters, not how well you can listen without talking. Keep doin' what your doin' man. You rock!
-Chris Waltner
12:01 AM
Thanks for all the great feedback. I'm gonna try to be a bit more professional about how I interview, but I will not edit out stuff. Thanks again for all the support!
-Andrew
1:07 PM
Question: how did you insert the images into the m4a file? That's really cool!
5:49 AM
Hi mr. Andrew Gordon!
Interesting interview. Good sound on mr. Stanton's voice, but you should crank up the sound of your own voice... I could barely hear it.
Great story mr. Andrew Stanton told. He is a great director! I'm looking forward to listen to the rest of the interview.
Keep interviewing more Pixar employees like mr. John Lasseter, Pete Docter, Brad Bird, or yourself for that matter, and any other employees. It would be interesting to hear an interview about yourself as well.
It would have been cool if you made VIDEO interviews, too. Maybe you have, I don't know, I'm new at this web site.
Good job Andrew Gordon, and good storytelling by Andrew Stanton. I hope you (Gordon) make some more interviews with Pixar guys, because I really want to learn everything about Pixar and it's people. My dream is to work there...
Keep up the great interviews. Awesome!
You must be a really good artist to be working at Pixar Animation Studios. Congratulations on getting a Pixar job!
